Hit The Ball Duck begins with Duck at bat in a neighborhood game of baseball. He hits a ball which gets stuck in a tree. Then, in an attempt to get the ball back, he throws his bat up into the tree, which also gets stuck in the tree. Then he throws his glove and the same thing happens. Poor Duck! Little frog isn't allowed to play because of his size. But in the end he surprises Goat, Sheep and duck with a great play. This book is written with smoothly flowing text. The pictures dramatize the action and underscore the humor and comedy in the story. This simple story is a just the thing to read to a young child. Through teamwork, Duck and his friends are able to solve their problem and prove that size does not always match ability. He (or she) will emphasize with the problems Duck experiences and shriek with joy at Frog's moment of triumph.
